What are Artifacts?
Artifacts are rare objects hidden around the globe. They can be searched for, found ("uncovered") and then excavated using Artifact Detectors and Archaeologists.
How do I get Artifacts?
- The most important prerequisite is unlocking (min. Level 1) the special building "Archaeological Centre".
- After unlocking it, a new button appears on the left side of the scanner page. A tap triggers an artifact scan and consumes one Artifact Detector. (Scans always originate from your current position.)
- Either a semi-transparent circle briefly appears on the map – meaning there are no artifacts nearby – or a cone forms. This cone is yellow in the dark map view (night mode) and red in the light view (so it's easy to see). The cone indicates the approximate direction and distance of the artifact.
- Move in the direction where you suspect the artifact and scan again. The cone becomes narrower/more precise the closer you get.
- Once a scan reveals the artifact is less than 100 m away, it is uncovered on the map (a large amphora symbol). The higher the level of your Archaeological Centre, the less close you need to get to uncover an artifact. The scanner range also increases as you upgrade the special building.
- Once the artifact is uncovered, tap it to recover it. Archaeologists are required for recovery. Sending 100 Archaeologists gives you a 100% chance of successfully recovering the artifact. With just one Archaeologist, you only have a 1% chance. Note that Archaeologists are consumed in a recovery attempt. The risk is yours!
Can other players also recover the artifact, like with crates?
Yes, but only if it has been uncovered and the other player has also upgraded their Archaeological Centre to at least Level 1. You must be within the usual crate collection radius. Note: once an artifact has been uncovered, it only remains for a short time before disappearing forever!
How long do artifacts stay where they are?
We distinguish between hidden and revealed artifacts.
- Hidden artifacts, which you can roughly locate via the scanner but have not yet been revealed, remain in place forever until someone uncovers them.
- Revealed artifacts, visible on the map as an amphora, remain visible for a short time (approx. 15 min.) before disappearing forever.
Don't worry: artifacts respawn! The map cannot be permanently "cleared out"!
What do I do with these artifacts?
Artifacts can either be sold or redeemed on the "Artifacts" page (amphora symbol in the navigation bar) to unlock valuable bonuses.
